Details Scripted by Michael Wilson and Rod Serling from the novel "La Planete des Singes" by Pierre Boulle. Make-up Artist John Chambers received an honourary Oscar for the skills pioneered here with the extraordinary ape creations. Costumes were designed by Morton Haack. The origin of the Species is explored brilliantly. This film is a masterpiece and the British quad film poster is a fitting tribute. This cinema poster is of historic interest as it has on the reverse in blue pen the name and address of the owner which was the "Regal Cinema" in Portland, Dorset. Just above the address is the red postage stamp which has been clearly stamped by the Post Office with a delivery date of 9th September 1968. This film poster would have been folded, addressed and a stamp put on it and then posted to the cinema where the film would have been shown. This is the original first release cinema poster and it shows the friendliness of local cinema owners as it was clearly sent a year after it was first used for showing then at another cinema. The poster has on the reverse some historic water damage so it might have been a rainy day. We have applied some strips of conservation tape at the reverse of the fold lines at half of the centre and horizontal fold line where there had been some stress. The colours on the poster are very deep and bright. The 'A' certificate has been lightly coloured over and there is a tiny piece of restoration colour on the centre fold line on Charlton Heston's stomach. Printed in England by Lonsdale & Bartholomew of Nottingham you will never find another one with the history that this film poster has.
