| Details | "Gone with the Wind" special cinema poster from the 1969 showing of Metro Goldwyn Mayer's classic which started on Sunday, February 23rd 1969 at the fantastic ABC Cinerama theatre on the Bristol Road in Birmingham. This cinema was a fantastic venue and going there was a real treat. For many this is the most popular Hollywood image of all time. Walter Plunkett was the chap responsible for the costume designs - although he noticed from research that Scarlett was wearing the colour green most of the time he obtained permission from Selznick to dress Scarlett in any colours he pleased. This shade of red as depicted here seems a brilliant choice to us (but green remains her favourite colour!). This image is so famous that a similar pose for the Star Wars poster was dubbed "The Gone with the Wind style". Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O'Hara with Clark Gable as Rhett Butler. The artist Terpning captures the scene perfectly at the foot of the poster in great detail. |
