| Details | This important cinema poster features the Return of the Jedi Star Wars film logo and was produced for the only occasion that this film was stolen in the United Kingdom. Overseas in America there had been five thefts of the film with the most significant one happening at gunpoint in Santa Monica, California with the thief later being caught by FBI agents when posing as a couple they agreed a price of $10,000 for the film. FACT were an organisation set up in England to counter illegal video copies which stole a great deal of money from the cinema industry and the British video rental industry. This is an important poster and it is the first that we have seen. "Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi" piracy poster offering a "£5,000 reward offered by Lucas Films 20th Century Fox & classic Cinemas for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the theft of the film. from Hastings on Sat 18th June." the poster goes on to say "Warning - no video copies of this film are legitimately available any person in possession of a video copy of the film is open to criminal prosecution". 3 1/2 inch tear to right edge, folded condition. |
