| Details | Possibly only an artist of Italian origin could have the imagination, the style and the rough confident brush strokes to ensure Michael Caine is convincing as a gangster in a floral jacket. This jacket must be the creation of the artist as we have no recollection of it in the film itself. Other gangsters appear in orange, green and purple jackets with ties of vivid reds, greens and oranges. These fashions give a further dimension ensuring that the London gangsters stand out up as they travel up North to Newcastle upon Tyne. The raw strength of the artwork, the double barrelled shotgun, the fight scene and the uniformed policemen leave us in no doubt that Michael Caine in "Get Carter" is involved in a serious crime thriller despite appearing in a jacket that Carnaby Street would be proud of. Truly one of the greatest cinema posters ever designed we feel with printing by Lonsdale & Bartholomew of Nottingham Ltd. The condition is folded with enlarged pinholes in the corners and three tape marks on the top and bottom border. |
